Another one is in the bag. We had a dozen hearty souls ride from Santa Margarita Park 17 miles to Pozo Saloon. There were seven tall bikes, two cruisers, one old mountain bike, a slalom bike (they were big in Europe?) and a Schwinn 3- speed. No breakdowns - Dan did a tire change on Becky’s tall bike, that’s it. Surprisingly, everyone made it! The support vehicle kept everyone hydrated, the kids threw water on us as we passed, Keith “the worm” Jagger and his twin girls cheered us on from various locations, along the way. Tom “Man of Steel” Smith rode his Mountain Man Tall bike all the way up Rinconada grade in triple digit temprature! If you have ever seen his bike, you know that’s no easy feat! Jono’s son Jack at 10 was the youngest to ride. JoAnn and her offspring William and Dylan rode from their property 5 miles to join our saloon festivities. The Patrons were surprised by our feat and entertained by the Tall Bike jousting, ukulele playing and welcoming spirit of the whole crew. Almost everyone who rode came from a late night bike fashion show event the night before. You are all on the Varsity Team in my book! Thank you Nielsen family for the support vehicle and the cool pool dip afterwards, Thank you RIDE-ON Transportation for donating the 17 person van for the ride back to the park. My personal highlight was seeing Yardsale Dan’s front wheel fall off as Bo was lifting it to strap it on the isuzu twooper - POST Ride! Oh, mygod…
