Gives the cowboys something to aim at!

Deputy Kennytosh did a Recon mission to the Pozo Saloon recently and sent this photo from Pozo California. This is the “howdy partner”  watering trough in the mens room.  It’s a testament to the Tall Bike Posse tenacity and “Stick to your guns” attitude that we have. It’s a metaphor that suits us well. No matter how much we have been the “target”, we still “stick”. All the sharpshooters have enough respect to leave it be. We may be different but in a way, they like us!

Posse Up Pale Ale

ahhh the glow of freshly brewed pale ale.

Ahhh, the glow of freshly brewed pale ale.

What usually happens is we get to hang out in the man room and bottle the stuff while the beer wench serves up pitchers to the busy bottlers. Ukulele music may spontaneously burst forth as well as silly antics and special drop in guest of all sorts. Come by and enjoy the fun from 6-9 tomorrow at Central Coast Brewing. See you there!

SLO LITTLE 500 BIKE RACE - JULY 2011

The Little 500 took place on Sunday July 3rd and here is the carnage. Yours truly Sheriff Bill was in the back 40 with my ukulele inspiring the riders and spectators with summer songs to everyone cool. Just doing my part to keep it weird.

The Improbable Ride Followup

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Well, it was nice to get this ride back on the map. It was the only Bike Month event on the calendar and a beautiful MAY DAY! Four of us started four of us finished. I felt as if each one of us had been through quite a bit of life in between the rides (it’s been two years since the last). We veterans reflect back on past Pozo rides, and always find it to be adventurous, miscalculated, surprising and inspiring. I find this ride is sort of a book end for my cycle of life journey. Is that too deep to think such things whilst straddling the tall?

We already have plans for next year:

  • The Bob keg
  • gymkhana event at rest stop
  • Tall bike raffle
  • Dunbar Brewery swag
  • Central Coast Brewery swag

Tall Bike Posse kicks off bike month Sunday, May 1st with a wrong bike ride to Pozo. Search your quiver for the last bike you’d want to do a 17 mile ride on, pull it down, pump up those rotted, cracked tires, spray it down with WD40 and meet up at Santa Margarita Community Park at 9:30a for a 10A ride out to Pozo. Bring some $ for beer and food. Return trip to Margarita arranged. This ride is limited to bikes with 3 or less speeds. Exceptions made for bikes over 45 lbs. Tall bikes encouraged.

Sethzilla getting busy

Sethzilla getting busy

Congratulations, you found us! Well it’s been a while since my posts. Life has a way of making it tough to get to the CORE of your passions. In dong so, the tallbikeposse.com website was overdue in annual payment, and with that overlap came the harsh reality that people out there on the internets will hijack and hold websites hostage and basically turn a website into SPAM.

I walk away form that episode, and claim TallBikePosse.org the official site. In doing so, the .org really brings in what we believe; and that is a “cooperative group” ready to ride for fun and for bike awareness, willing to work and bring creative ideas to the posse, and able to promote all that is Tall Bike Posse.
With that, I give you a couple CORE photos of the Posse getting it done. Yeee-Haw!

BTW - if any of you readers want to buy back tallbikeposse.com for us to use, go for it. I have no patience for negotiations.

Cyclocross Medallion Making event

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Attention TBP Minions-
Reserve Tuesday September 14th from 6-9pm for a Tall Bike Posse build night at the SLO Bicycle Coalition Headquarters. We will be making 54 winner medallions for the Central Coast Cyclocross race series scheduled for October and November. These medallions similar to the ones made for the winners of the SLO Urban Enduro will be unique and sought after by all competitors and worn proudly by only the Winners.
We will fuel our creativity with pizza and beer. I hope you can be a part of the post industrial style assembly line.

Medallion recipe ingredients:

  1. Rear clusters that we can bust loose and gather 54 individual gears
  2. Bike inner tubes from ten speeds - 27 total (cut in half will make 54 neck ribbons)
  3. Bike chain - enough to wrap the gears
  4. Silver bronze and gold markers; or other permanent neon color- green, pink and blue? to write the place, category, and date of event.

We will disassemble clusters, bike chains and cut inner tubes and clean off grease, dry the parts with propane torches and reassemble with placement, category and date of event  (Dave, or Tyler please send info).

Visit www.slocross.com for event information, flyers and updates for the series. If you missed last year’s Doggone Cross Race at Laguna Lake and the year before at Talley Vineyards, you missed quite a spectacle. Tall Bike Posse may even take the course during the halftime show!

Bike art Build

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

We had a great build today at the Central Coast Brewery. Tom and I showed up in the truck and unloaded our material for all to peruse and reuse.

We finished one tall bike, a large slingshot, a mini mammoth, a large car hood ornament, wind chimes, and a really cute sculpture of some kind of animal. Allen Root was a great help with his welding unit and awesome metal machinery. Jim Aaron opened up the brewery and we provided some foot traffic of thirsty lookie-loos. This is going to be a great bike art show at the Atascadero Bike Lane Gallery. Read about it on Craigslist.

Bike Art Build and Brew

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

bikeart-buld

Time to deconstruct, drill, drink, and grind bike bones, create art from the junk-pile bike heap. We’ll haul the bike bones down to Central Coast Brewery this Sunday from noon ’til whenever for an All-Out Bike Build. THIS IS NOT A SPECTATOR SPORT! Get busy and create Art from Bike scrap. The Tall Bike Posse will bring demo bikes and make a corral in the Central Coast Brew parking lot just for the aesthetic rumpus and no holds barred Bike Art Build! Our welding hombre will be on hand to make YOUR idea a reality. Come with inspiration and a thirst for beer.
